Autonomous Driving Software Engineer – Vehicle Interface & Redundant Systems

About the role

ADASTEC is looking for an Autonomous Driving Software Engineer to join the Vehicle Interface & Redundant Systems (VIR) team. You will own safety‑critical software modules, design redundancy architectures, and develop communication clients for CAN bus and Ethernet.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high‑performance C++ and Python applications for ECU interfacing and collision‑avoidance.
• Develop fail‑safe mechanisms and software that switches to backup systems during failures.
• Identify, triage, and resolve complex software and communication issues in deployed systems.
• Drive quality through unit/integration testing, code reviews, and documentation.
• Participate in occasional domestic and international travel for vehicle integration, testing tracks, or partner workshops.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechatronics, Control, Computer, Electrical/Electronics, or Automotive Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in embedded or automotive software development.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken, and no travel restrictions.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C++ and Python on Linux.
• Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) and modern robotic software paradigms.
• Strong command of Git workflows, Linux command‑line tools, bash scripting, and system services.
• Familiarity with vehicle networks such as CAN bus and Automotive Ethernet.
• Understanding of safety‑critical software principles.
