Software Developer – Subject Matter Expert (SME)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Developer – Subject Matter Expert to lead the design, development, testing and deployment of mission‑critical software solutions at Redstone Arsenal. The role combines hands‑on coding with technical leadership, guiding teams through complex requirements and ensuring high‑quality deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, development and implementation of software applications and systems.
• Analyze complex technical requirements and translate them into effective software solutions.
• Write clean, efficient, maintainable code and conduct thorough testing, debugging and integration.
• Provide technical guidance, conduct code reviews and establish best practices for development teams.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, analysts and other stakeholders throughout the software lifecycle.
• Support software integration, deployment, lifecycle management and documentation.
• Mentor junior and mid‑level developers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Active Top Secret security clearance.
• Proven ability to provide technical leadership and solve complex problems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages.
• Extensive experience with software development methodologies, testing and debugging.
• Deep understanding of software architecture and system integration.
