Junior Software Engineer – JTAPS Program

About the role

Seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join our team in support of the JTAPS program in Huntsville, AL. The Joint Targeting and Precision Solutions (JTAPS) is a government‑owned, managed, and developed suite of software used by the Joint Services and numerous labs for the defense of the United States and our Allies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, deploy, and maintain the JTAPS software application suites.
• Work on an agile development team, understanding the path forward, communicating it, and completing tasks in a timely manner.
• Research advancements in computer science and related fields.
• Communicate with the team to ensure a common understanding of requirements.
• Document work for teammates, users, leadership, and customers.
• Identify and solve challenging problems by writing performant, clean, and practical code.
• Foster personal growth through mentorship from Mid and Senior Engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent; or six years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Must have an active Secret Clearance or the ability to acquire one; US citizenship required.
• Knowledge of Kotlin, Java, or C# and the Microsoft .NET Framework.
• Ability to understand requirements and design efficient, robust, testable software.
• Travel requirement of less than 10% annually.
