Shipping Clerk

About the role

AMAX, a manufacturer of GPU-accelerated IT infrastructure, is hiring a full-time Shipping Clerk in Fremont. The role handles incoming and outgoing shipments, verifies information against shipping documents, and may be known as Shipping Clerk, Receiving Clerk, Freight Clerk, Reshipping Clerk or Returned-Goods Receiving Clerk depending on specialty.

Key responsibilities

• Verify and record incoming and outgoing shipments, comparing item counts, weights or measurements against bills of lading, invoices and orders.
• Determine the method of shipment based on shipping procedures, routes and rates.
• Apply shipping labels, assemble or select containers, pack items with spacers and padding, and secure crates with tape and strapping.
• Stamp or stencil shipping information and instructions on crates and containers.
• Post weights and shipping charges, affix postage, and route items to departments.
• Unpack incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages and correspond with the shipper; examine outgoing shipments for specification compliance.
• Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies, and may operate a tier-lift truck or handtruck.
• May direct others in preparing shipments and may receive returned goods or unsold products.

Required profile

• Associate's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 2+ years of experience in shipping or logistics operations.
• Understanding of domestic and international shipping processes.
• Knowledge of freight carriers, customs documentation, Incoterms and export compliance.
• Good organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities.
