Senior Unified Communications (UC) Engineer

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Senior Unified Capabilities (UC) Engineer in Ft. Meade, MD, to support the Intel and Cyber Division's team working for DISA on a program that delivers critical IT capabilities to the Department of Defense. The team is built for prototype development, test and demonstration, and is kept available longer term for integration, deployment and sustainment. The position is safety-sensitive, in an SCIF, and requires an active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute technical expertise and recommendations on UC and collaboration technologies, including large-scale conferencing and session border controllers.
• Lead a team of UC engineers in building a secure, scalable, resilient UC prototype for DoD use on classified networks.
• Serve as technical point of contact for UC design and engineering, defining architecture and interface specifications that meet DoD UCR, STIGs and other cybersecurity mandates.
• Integrate voice (VoIP), video conferencing, instant messaging, presence and unified messaging across IP networks, coordinating with government stakeholders, security engineers and network teams.
• Run lab-based testing, proof-of-concept demonstrations and field evaluations, and prepare engineering documentation, risk assessments and status reports.
• Advise the UC, network and systems engineering teams and cyber security experts on voice and video technologies, interoperability and security requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field, or five additional years of UC engineering experience.
• 15 years of IT engineering or architecture, with at least 10 years in UC.
• Demonstrated experience designing, architecting and deploying secure UC solutions in classified or DoD environments.
• Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, travel up to 20%, and work in a SCIF and occasionally in a datacenter.

Required skills

• Subject matter expert in UC design, endpoints, user management, configuration, troubleshooting and integration.
• Cisco UC platforms: CUCM, CUBE, Cisco Meeting Server, Cisco Unified Border Element, Cisco IM and Presence Server.
• Voice gateways, SIP session border controllers, SIP trunks, ISDN circuits; Cisco IOS/IOX routing and switching.
• Protocols: SIP, RTP, SRTP, VoIP, H.323, XMPP, TLS, PKI.
• Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint.
• Preferred: CCNP Collaboration, DoD 8570.01-M IAT-II, VQ Conference Manager, classified cloud environments, DevSecOps/IaC, NIST SP 800-53, RMF, DISA STIGs.
