Senior Tax Strategist – Small Business & Tax

About the role

As a Senior Tax Strategist focusing on small‑business clients, you will apply accounting principles to analyze financial information, prepare reports and manage tax filings. You will act as a trusted advisor, helping clients navigate complex tax regulations while driving process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate and manage the preparation and review of company federal tax returns and ensure timely filing of all tax forms.
• Ensure accurate, timely filing of consolidated federal, state and local income tax returns and other business‑related filings.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement in tax procedures.
• Develop and implement strategic tax planning for required federal and state taxes.
• Manage tax team members in preparing components of the US federal income tax return and related documents.
• Plan and maintain an overall return calendar, coordinating timing and inputs with the tax team.
• Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
• Manage and facilitate IRS income tax audits, including preparing responses and schedules.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate impacts, and create strategies to capitalize on changes.
• Provide support for internal audits and special tax‑related projects.
• Review tax returns and quarterly/yearly tax projections.
• Mentor and develop tax team members to enhance effectiveness and engagement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of five years of relevant tax experience.
