Finance Operations and Automation Specialist

About the role

A leading finance team is looking for a high‑caliber AP & AR Finance Automation Specialist to transform accounts payable and receivable functions across a portfolio of SaaS companies. This remote role combines accounting expertise with process engineering, AI, and automation to build a scalable finance operating model.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end AP and AR operations across multiple entities, including invoicing, collections, cash application, vendor payments, reconciliations and month‑end activities.
• Design, document and standardize AP/AR processes, controls, approval workflows and SOPs while accommodating entity‑level differences.
• Map current workflows, identify bottlenecks and eliminate manual, spreadsheet‑heavy steps.
• Identify, design and implement automation opportunities using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT), workflow platforms and system integrations.
• Develop automated workflows for invoice processing, approvals, payment follow‑ups, collections, cash application, reconciliations and exception management.
• Monitor KPIs such as AP/AR aging, DSO, collections, cash requirements and provide actionable reporting to management.
• Maintain strong controls over vendor/customer master data, payment approvals, bank details and segregation of duties.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with accounting, operations, technology and portfolio‑company teams to improve finance systems and data flows.

Required profile

• CA/ACCA/CMA qualified or MBA/MS in Finance, Accounting or Business from a reputable institution.
• 4–6+ years of relevant accounting/finance experience, preferably in SaaS, technology, PE‑backed or multi‑entity environments.
• Strong hands‑on knowledge of AP, AR, billing, collections, cash application, reconciliations and month‑end close.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills with ability to work independently with U.S.‑based management.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel / Google Sheets.
• Experience with accounting/ERP systems such as QuickBooks Online, Zoho, Power BI or similar.
• Practical interest or experience with AI and automation tools (Claude, ChatGPT, workflow automation, no‑code/low‑code platforms).
• Understanding of APIs, data flows and system integrations at a functional level.
