Senior Software Engineer (Privacy)

About the role

TikTok's Privacy & Data Protection Organization is expanding its Privacy Validation and Detection Engineering (VaDE) team. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will develop detection methods to monitor privacy gaps and support incident response, ensuring compliance with global privacy regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detection methods to continuously assess and monitor privacy gaps.
• Perform privacy validation tests on suspected vulnerabilities and gather evidence for remediation.
• Assist in privacy‑related incident response, conduct technical investigations, and recommend mitigation actions.
• Stay current with global privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and collaborate with legal, compliance, and product teams to embed privacy by design.
• Maintain documentation and generate regular reports on privacy assessments and risks.

Required profile

• Familiarity with core privacy concepts such as data minimization, purpose limitation, and data retention.
• Proven software development experience in large‑scale data environments, especially building detection systems.
• Strong offensive security and privacy testing skills.
• Experience with privacy assessments, data protection, and compliance.
• Knowledge of global privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
