Senior Software Engineer - Middleware

About the role

ExtraHop is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Middleware team and help build a fault-resilient, highly available, customer-centric platform. You will work with the team to build a scalable and secure platform and customer-facing features that let security and engineering teams stop threats. The position is remote within the United States; living in the Seattle, WA area is preferred but not required.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain services written in Go and Python that power ExtraHop's products.
• Lead and take part in agile development, code reviews and technical strategy discussions.
• Provide technical leadership to junior team members through mentoring and design support.
• Act as a technical expert and foster a culture of excellence, curiosity and collaborative problem solving.
• Proactively address technical debt and improve the codebase and technical stack.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Experience building and scaling distributed, highly available systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills, self-starter mentality and technical ownership.
• Effective communication and collaboration in fast-paced, agile environments.

Required skills

• Solid knowledge of Go, Python or an equivalent language.
• API development, PostgreSQL database design or SQL query performance optimization.
• Preferred: Django, FastAPI or another Python web framework.
• Preferred: AWS or Azure cloud services (EKS, RDS, S3, SQS, EC2, IAM, Lambda).

• Salary of $160,000 - $180,000 per year, plus a discretionary annual bonus and stock options.
