Senior Software Engineer - Cloud

About the role

ExtraHop's Cloud team builds a secure, scalable, high-performance platform powering its cybersecurity products. As a Senior Software Engineer, Cloud, you will own the design, delivery and operation of critical cloud services, drive architectural decisions and lead complex technical initiatives end-to-end. The position is open to remote work in the US and Seattle.

Key responsibilities

• Own the architecture, development and operation of scalable, secure, fault-tolerant cloud services, accountable for performance and reliability in production.
• Drive technical design and architectural decisions for distributed systems, influencing patterns, standards and long-term platform evolution.
• Lead initiatives from design through deployment and ongoing optimization.
• Build and scale cloud infrastructure with Terraform, Helm and Kubernetes, and advance cloud security and compliance (IAM, encryption).
• Improve observability with monitoring, alerting and incident response, and drive DevOps maturity through CI/CD pipeline optimization.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and technical direction, and adopt new technologies pragmatically.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 6-8+ years of software engineering experience focused on cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Proven ability to design, build and operate production-grade systems at scale, with on-call and incident response ownership.
• U.S. citizenship, permanent residency or lawful admission as a refugee/asylee.

Required skills

• Go, Python or similar, with distributed services experience.
• Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm).
• AWS services (EKS, EC2, RDS, S3, SQS, IAM) in production.
• Preferred: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Vault, Consul, Packer, event-driven architectures and microservices.

• Salary of $160,000 - $180,000 per year, plus discretionary bonus and stock options.
