Senior Software Engineer – Java & POS Integration

About the role

We are looking for a senior‑level Java engineer to join a newly created team that builds an Omnichannel Payment Platform (OPP) and a next‑generation Point‑of‑Sale (POS) system. The role focuses on stabilising the POS environment, integrating it with the OPP, and ensuring secure, high‑performance backend services. The position is based onsite in Cincinnati and requires close collaboration with cross‑functional technical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend microservices using Java, Spring and Spring Boot.
• Integrate the new POS platform with the Omnichannel Payment Platform and enterprise API gateways.
• Troubleshoot and stabilise POS‑to‑backend and payment‑processing integrations, including hands‑on testing with physical POS terminals.
• Implement secure, scalable, highly available services within PCI‑scoped environments.
• Participate in technical design reviews, code reviews and architecture discussions.
• Create automated unit and integration tests and support event‑driven messaging architectures.

Required profile

• 7+ years of senior‑level Java development experience.
• Hands‑on experience with POS terminals, POS labs and PCI‑scoped or security‑sensitive environments.
• Proven ability to work onsite and collaborate with architecture, QA, DevOps and product teams.
