Senior Medical Science Liaison (Gastroenterology) - Texas

About the role

Ardelyx, a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company, is hiring a Senior Medical Science Liaison (Senior MSL) in Houston, Texas. The Senior MSL is a field-based expert who answers product questions from healthcare professionals, delivers clinical and scientific presentations and education, and develops and coordinates scientific and clinical strategies with Key Opinion Leaders in academic, clinical and healthcare organizations. The role is full-time.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary field-based medical liaison, providing medical information and scientific exchange to external and internal stakeholders
• Build and manage relationships with local, national and regional medical and scientific leaders to address scientific needs
• Answer unsolicited requests for information accurately, fairly and on time
• Establish relationships with thought leaders and academic or community centers to expand research and education opportunities
• Take part in non-product scientific discussions such as disease state, diagnosis, epidemiology and unmet medical need
• Work independently in a changing environment, integrating and communicating HCP feedback
• Join advisory boards and company meetings, attend medical and scientific congresses, and lead department projects and cross-functional activities
• Monitor the competitive landscape and share feedback with internal stakeholders
• Mentor and coach new or junior MSLs, supporting their onboarding and training

Required profile

• Doctorate (PharmD, PhD, MD, DNP, etc.) in biological sciences with 5+ years of MSL experience in the therapeutic area, or an advanced master's degree (NP, PA) with extensive clinical expertise
• Prior experience mentoring medical science liaisons
• Knowledge of FDA and OIG requirements, the PhRMA Code and regulations governing compliant scientific exchange
• Ability to travel locally, regionally and nationally, up to 70%
• Valid driver's license

• Anticipated annualized base pay of $185,000-$232,000, with possible annual bonus target and equity awards
