Senior Manager, Startup Deployment

About the role

The Senior Manager, Startup Deployment will drive Newlab New Orleans’ mission to attract, retain and scale early‑stage physical‑technology startups in Louisiana. Working directly with startups and regional partners, you will translate technical and commercial needs into viable local deployment pathways, including pilots, demonstrations and early commercial projects.

Key responsibilities

• Source, evaluate and onboard startups aligned with Newlab’s focus areas.
• Act as the primary point of contact for startups exploring market entry in Louisiana.
• Conduct technical and project‑level diligence to assess feasibility and defensibility of local deployments.
• Map commercialization and supply‑chain requirements and identify de‑risking support.
• Translate technical requirements (power, heat, water, siting, feedstocks, permitting) into feasible deployment plans.
• Coordinate site visits, technical scoping discussions and early feasibility assessments with ecosystem partners.
• Engage regularly with state and local economic development agencies, workforce partners and public authorities to stay current on policies, incentives and funding mechanisms.
• Provide hands‑on assistance to help startups navigate incentives, site selection and local supply‑chain partners.

Required profile

• Technically fluent, highly organized and knowledgeable about startup commercialization barriers.
• Comfortable collaborating with startups, industry stakeholders, regulatory bodies and infrastructure sites.
• Experience in technology commercialization or project development in areas such as carbon management, industrial decarbonization, advanced fuels or maritime logistics is a plus.
• Familiarity with the Louisiana ecosystem and willingness to work on‑site in New Orleans.
• Reports directly to the Managing Director.
