Marine Design Manager

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking an experienced Marine Design Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of marine designers and drafters. The role is pivotal in delivering high‑quality autonomous surface vessel designs, establishing technical standards, and ensuring compliance with maritime regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of marine designers and drafters across 2D and 3D modeling, technical drawings, and production support.
• Develop, enforce, and continuously improve drawing standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with naval architects, marine, structural, and electrical engineers to drive new vessel designs.
• Oversee construction documentation, including ship construction drawings and as‑built records.
• Mentor team members in CAD modeling and ship design best practices.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and manage drawing submittals to classification societies (ABS, DNV, LR).
• Coordinate design‑to‑build handoffs with production and build engineering teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or technical certification in Naval Architecture, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field (associate degree acceptable with extensive experience).
• 10+ years of CAD drafting and marine design experience.
• 3+ years of experience leading a team of marine designers.
• Deep knowledge of maritime regulatory requirements, construction tolerances, and vessel construction processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software: NX, ShipConstructor, AutoCAD, Rhino.
• Strong understanding of vessel design disciplines (mechanical, electrical, structural, piping).
• Experience managing drawing submittals to classification societies.
