Senior Manager, Accounting Operations

About the role

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior Manager to lead its Accounting Operations function. This role oversees accounts payable, payroll, expense reporting, and state filing compliance for a fast‑growing organization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Accounting Operations team, ensuring clear role definitions, cross‑training, and backup coverage.
• Manage end‑to‑end accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and procure‑to‑pay compliance.
• Partner with Supply Chain, FP&A and Buyers to improve purchase order creation, receipt discipline, and invoice flow.
• Oversee payroll operations in collaboration with People Ops, handling timelines, controls, issue resolution and coverage.
• Own expense reporting and corporate card compliance, enforcing policy adherence and documentation standards.
• Execute state filing compliance, maintaining calendars, registrations and timely deliverables.
• Identify workflow gaps with ERP/IT, drive Odoo‑enabled process improvements, and support automation.
• Document SOPs, create training materials, and communicate process changes across functions.
• Monitor operational metrics, reduce rework, and support monthly close, internal controls and audit readiness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 7 years of relevant accounting or finance operations experience.
• Proven experience managing AP, payroll, expense reporting and compliance teams.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to triage issues, conduct root‑cause analysis and enforce process discipline.
