Senior Mainframe Engineer - Service Delivery Center

About the role

EY is hiring a Senior Mainframe Engineer for its Service Delivery Center, based in Raleigh (other locations mentioned: Dallas, San Antonio). The center delivers technology project-based work and managed services to financial services clients, working alongside advisory professionals. The role is fast-paced and covers the full application lifecycle, from design and build to testing, analysis, delivery and support.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze maintenance and enhancement projects in batch and online environments
• Design, deploy and support software releases into production
• Identify root causes of problems and implement technical design solutions, including high-severity/critical production issues
• Own assigned workstreams independently from design through production support, with clear documentation
• Collaborate with business, systems, operations and vendor teams, and mentor less-experienced colleagues
• Apply strong data security practices and run thorough unit, functional and regression testing

Required profile

• BS/BA or advanced degree, or equivalent experience preferred
• At least 3 years of relevant experience developing business-critical, enterprise-wide applications
• Hands-on mainframe development and release support experience
• Ability to handle critical production issues and strong documentation skills
• Comfortable in Agile environments and willing to travel up to 30%

Required skills

• Mainframe languages and tools: COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, JCL, IBM Utilities, FileAID, Endevor, SQL, debuggers, schedulers and IOMs
• Unit, functional and regression testing
• Ideally: COBOL/Native stored procedures, mainframe modernization and hybrid mainframe-cloud integration, financial brokerage domain knowledge
