Senior Machine Safety Specialist

About the role

The Safe Work Senior Specialist is the technical authority for machine safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO) program integrity, and high‑risk project oversight at the plant. This position ensures compliance with OSHA, ANSI, NFPA and state regulations while driving continuous improvement of safety processes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and approve machine‑specific LOTO procedures; lead annual LOTO review cycle and conduct field audits.
• Evaluate machine guarding for compliance with OSHA Subpart O, ANSI B11, ISO 13857 and state requirements; perform risk assessments and recommend engineered controls.
• Serve as EHS lead for new machine installation, commissioning and startup, validating safety circuits, interlocks and emergency stops.
• Manage contractor onboarding, training and high‑risk permits (hot work, confined space, working at heights, etc.) and conduct field audits.
• Develop standard work, visual controls and error‑proofing; facilitate JSAs, SOP reviews and ergonomic assessments.
• Deliver LOTO and machine safety training; provide technical guidance to engineering, maintenance and production teams; act as subject‑matter expert during OSHA and ISO 45001 audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong command of written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Knowledge of OSHA 1910, OSHA 1910.147, ANSI Z244.1, ANSI B11 series, NFPA standards and state regulations.
• Experience with lockout/tagout program development, machine guarding, risk assessments and safety circuit validation.
• Ability to conduct LOTO audits, safety investigations and contractor safety oversight.
