Senior Machine Learning Engineer (AI Insurtech)

About the role

EvolutionIQ builds technology that helps insurance claims teams handle claims more accurately, fairly and efficiently. It is growing rapidly and is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer in New York to build and scale ML models for its insurtech platform.

Key responsibilities

• Build ML models for production use.
• Perform in-depth exploratory data analysis to scope ML opportunities, spot data issues and lay the groundwork for model design, training and evaluation.
• Suggest and implement new features that improve model performance and business logic.
• Write and review production-quality pull requests daily.
• Translate client business problems into ML problems.
• Build scalable models for claim time series forecasting and NLP text understanding.
• Keep learning in data and ML, focusing on large-scale structured and unstructured datasets.

Required profile

• 2+ years as a Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist, preferably in highly scalable production environments.
• Deep exposure to data science and ML tech stacks, data analysis and modeling, with a preference for scalable solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to bridge technical and non-technical audiences.
• Team player who is solutions-oriented and open to feedback.

Required skills

• Python, Pandas, Jupyter
• scikit-learn, Keras / PyTorch, tuning frameworks
• Strong plus: experience with Claude Code and similar tools
• Nice to have: Dagster, BigQuery, Vertex AI, GCP, Terraform, Spark, Kubernetes, model-serving pipelines, probabilistic programming, unit tests
