Staff Software Engineer (Insurance Tech)

About the role

EvolutionIQ builds AI that helps insurance claims teams handle claims more accurately, fairly and efficiently, and is part of CCC Intelligent Solutions (NASDAQ: CCC). This is a hands-on Staff Engineer role in New York that impacts a whole business: you will help architect systems, set engineering best practices, bring AI to bear in the right tools and systems, and write the code that delivers value to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Architect systems and write the code that brings EvolutionIQ's AI-native products into CCC's auto casualty business.
• Dig into complex legacy systems, decide what to rebuild, replace or keep, and drive that work hands-on.
• Build backend architectures that hold up in production, moving between fast prototypes and stable, long-lived systems, with AI and agentic tools central to the work.
• Set the engineering standard (best practices, design docs, code reviews, consistency) in partnership with Product, Data Science and Data Engineering.

Required profile

• 8+ years of engineering experience, owning features end to end with Product, from scoping and data modelling to implementation and long-term maintenance.
• Strong hands-on coder in the stack: Python primarily, with TypeScript / JavaScript across the front end.
• Deep architectural experience with existing systems, including modernising and replatforming multi-tenant, multi-user backends and relational database design.
• Experience with AI-assisted and agentic engineering tools, with real shipped results.
• Nice to have: experience across startups and scale-ups and larger enterprises, and familiarity with insurance, claims or the auto casualty space.
