Senior Machine Learning Engineer – Ads

About the role

Quora is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to join its Ads ML team. You will focus on improving ad ranking models, driving better click‑through and conversion predictions, and delivering measurable value for advertisers and users.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance ads ranking models, including prediction objectives, feature interactions, user‑history modeling, and calibration.
• Own the end‑to‑end ML system lifecycle: data pipelines, feature engineering, training‑data construction, model training, evaluation, and production integration.
• Apply advances in deep learning and recommendation modeling while respecting production latency, reliability, and cost constraints.
• Collaborate with ML platform and product engineers to build scalable, efficient production systems.
• Partner with product, data science, and engineering teams to define ranking objectives, design A/B experiments, and measure impact on revenue and relevance.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional software development experience in machine learning.
• Hands‑on experience developing and deploying large‑scale ads ranking models (CTR/CVR prediction and calibration) with ownership of production improvements.
• Experience evaluating ranking models via offline analysis and online experiments.
• Availability for meetings during Quora’s coordination hours (Mon‑Fri 9 am‑3 pm PT).
