Senior Knowledge Management Specialist

About the role

The Senior Knowledge Management Specialist will lead enterprise knowledge capture, organization, and sharing for a U.S. Combatant Command at MacDill Air Force Base. This role advises Government Knowledge Management Officers, sets governance standards, and ensures consistent KM tradecraft across headquarters, components, and TSOCs.

Key responsibilities

• Advise Government KM Officers on strategy, implementation, and optimization; facilitate KM working group discussions.
• Author and maintain policy documents, governance frameworks, standards, and procedures compliant with federal and security regulations.
• Lead capture and transfer of tacit and explicit knowledge using approved methods such as AARs, lessons learned, and best‑practice harvesting.
• Conduct site‑assisted visits to assess KM maturity, produce reports, metrics, and improvement plans.
• Define and enforce enterprise taxonomy, metadata, naming conventions, and content lifecycle practices.
• Provide strategic advice on M365, Power Platform, custom applications, Generative AI, and Copilot integration.
• Review technical solutions for conformance to taxonomy, metadata, and records‑management policies.
• Plan and prioritize KM efforts using Agile and Scrum, aligning sprints with user needs and command priorities.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen with active Top Secret clearance and SCI eligibility (SSBI).
• Bachelor’s degree in Knowledge Management, Information Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 8 years of professional KM experience, including 5 years supporting DoD or Intelligence Community organizations.
• Proven experience developing KM policy, governance frameworks, taxonomies, and metadata standards at enterprise scale.
