Data Engineering Manager

About the role

We are seeking a proactive, detail‑oriented Data Engineering Manager to lead our core data engineering squad and oversee our DBA team. You will drive platform projects while staying hands‑on, working in a GCP‑native, AI‑first environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, scale, and mentor a team of Data Engineers and provide high‑level management for the DBA team.
• Drive critical infrastructure initiatives across streaming and batch environments using GCP, BigQuery, DBT, and Apache Flink.
• Champion an AI‑first engineering culture, embedding AI into pipeline code, platform operations, and data access layers.
• Partner with the DBA team to ensure transactional database reliability, uptime, and seamless integration with analytical platforms.
• Set high standards for data quality, testing, observability, and cost optimization across cloud resources.
• Align pipeline development directly with key business decisions and product goals.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading data engineering teams with a hands‑on builder mindset.
• Strong background in Google Cloud Platform, especially BigQuery and cloud data processing.
• Experience with modern data stack tools such as dbt and Apache Flink or Dataflow.
• Comfort managing relational database teams (PostgreSQL/MySQL) without needing deep day‑to‑day DBA execution.
• High attention to detail, clean architecture, governance, and documentation.
• Excellent communication skills and advanced English (Spanish a plus).
