Senior IT Business Analyst

About the role

The Division of Information Technology Services at Northeastern University seeks a motivated Senior IT Business Analyst to drive technology solutions that align with institutional goals. This hybrid role requires on‑site collaboration at least three days a week and occasional after‑hours support for urgent incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Elicit, analyze, and validate business and technical requirements through interviews, workshops, and surveys.
• Translate business needs into clear functional and technical specifications for development teams.
• Support project planning by preparing business cases, feasibility analyses, and requirement traceability matrices.
• Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure delivered solutions meet documented requirements.
• Maintain and improve business analysis practices, including templates, process flows, and documentation standards.

Required profile

• Strong verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Proven ability to produce clear documentation such as user stories, process diagrams, and user guides.
• At least 3‑5 years of experience in business analysis, preferably supporting enterprise systems or digital transformation projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s preferred.

Required skills

• Experience with business analysis tools such as JIRA, ServiceNow, Miro, and Lucidchart.
• Knowledge of software development lifecycles and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).
• Familiarity with cloud‑based platforms, integrations, and enterprise applications.
• Ability to conduct stakeholder interviews, workflow modeling, and requirements traceability.
