Principal Research Scientist in Resilient AI

About the role

Northeastern University is hiring a Principal Research Scientist to join Prof. Francesco Restuccia’s research team in Boston. The role focuses on cutting‑edge theoretical and applied research in resilient artificial intelligence, including adversarial AI and out‑of‑distribution detection.

Key responsibilities

• Provide scientific and technical leadership for the resilient AI research program, designing and establishing research standards.
• Publish findings, obtain new grants, develop project budgets, and manage research funding.
• Interview, hire, and supervise professional staff, technical personnel, and graduate students.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least three first/second‑author publications in top‑tier AI venues (AAAI, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, ECCV, CVPR, WACV, NeurIPS, TNNLS).
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Preferred: proven experience in resilient AI research, additional publications, proposal writing, and demonstrated leadership.
