Postdoctoral Research Associate in Computer Systems

About the role

The Goodwill Computing Lab at Northeastern University seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to advance research in HPC resilience, data center power management, job scheduling, and storage system performance. The role involves contributing to multiple projects, co‑advising graduate students, and publishing findings at top computer science conferences.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct basic and applied research on resilience‑aware scheduling, deep‑learning workload scheduling, and storage system performance tuning.
• Assist the supervisor with interpretation and publication of research results and grant contributions.
• Maintain the laboratory and provide functional supervision to supporting research staff.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science with experience in file systems and GPU architecture.
• Proven ability to articulate research findings in peer‑reviewed proceedings.
• Experience with systems programming, OS and storage concepts, and heterogeneous architectures.

Required skills

• File systems (e.g., Lustre, GPFS, Ceph)
• GPU architecture and CUDA programming
• Systems programming and Linux kernel internals
• Distributed systems development
• High‑performance computing and large‑scale data center environments
