Senior Identity & Access Management Engineer

About the role

The Senior Identity & Access Management Engineer will design, implement, and manage the IAM framework for Northeastern University, ensuring secure access to systems and compliance with regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead deployment and integration of IAM technologies such as Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID, and related tools.
• Develop and enforce operational best practices to maintain high availability of identity systems.
• Collaborate with IT, security, and business teams to define access requirements and implement controls.
• Create automation scripts and workflows (e.g., PowerShell) to streamline provisioning and de‑provisioning.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex IAM incidents and oversee their resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 7 years of senior IAM engineering and implementation experience.
• Proven ability to work in complex production environments and communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Microsoft Active Directory (on‑prem and Entra), Entra Connect, Grouper, Shibboleth, SailPoint/Savyint.
• Security protocols and standards: SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, LDAP.
• Scripting and automation: Bash, SQL, PowerShell, Jenkins, GitHub Actions.
