Senior Hardware Engineer

About the role

Trace, an AI‑powered sports camera company, is looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer to lead validation, bring‑up, and reliability of its production‑scale cameras. You will work on‑site in Garden Grove, CA, collaborating with hardware, firmware, and software teams to deliver robust hardware used worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead validation and bring‑up of new PCB designs, from schematic review to hands‑on testing, debugging, and DFM optimization.
• Design, execute, and refine system‑level tests, including environmental stress, accelerated life, and performance validation at scale.
• Conduct comprehensive failure analysis on returned hardware, implement design improvements, and address reliability engineering aspects such as component selection, thermal management, and mechanical enhancements.
• Collaborate with firmware team to analyze logs, troubleshoot issues, and develop test automation.

Required profile

• BS or higher in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional hardware engineering experience with production‑scale electronic products.
• Proven track record in failure analysis, reliability engineering, and testing methodologies.
• Hands‑on debugging experience using DMM, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or serial debuggers.

Required skills

• PCB validation and bring‑up.
• Hardware debugging tools (DMM, oscilloscope, logic analyzer).
• Programming in C/C++ and/or Python for test automation and firmware bring‑up.
• Failure analysis and root‑cause investigation.
• Reliability engineering, component selection, thermal and mechanical design.
