About the role

The Chemical Plant Operator I – Resins position at BASF in Wyandotte, MI involves both field and control‑room tasks in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Operators handle material movement, equipment operation, and process control while adhering to safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform material handling, big‑bag filling, truck and drum line operations, and manage utilities and tank farms.
• Operate the control room: manage recipes, monitor process parameters, and troubleshoot production issues.
• Maintain safety by using SCBA equipment, serving as a HAZWOPER technician, and following all safety protocols.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED with at least 2 years of experience in manufacturing or an industrial setting.
• Ability to safely move, fill, and handle 55‑gallon drums and 55‑pound bags, stand for extended periods, and climb stairs throughout the shift.
• Willingness to work rotating 12‑hour shifts (day/night) with overtime and night‑shift differential.

Required skills

• Forklift (fork truck) operation and pallet jack use.
• SCBA (self‑contained breathing apparatus) proficiency.
• HAZWOPER certification or experience.
• Basic knowledge of recipe management, process control, and troubleshooting in a chemical plant.
