Tool Design Engineer – Manufacturing Tools

About the role

We are seeking a Tool Design Engineer to support Cellasto manufacturing operations at our Wyandotte, MI facility. The role focuses on designing, developing and optimizing production molds, gauges, fixtures and related tooling to improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Design and launch Cellasto foaming molds, gauges and fixtures according to global design guidelines.
• Coordinate construction, modification and installation of tools, managing timelines and ensuring compliance with quality specifications.
• Support design reviews, reject‑rate meetings and provide technical insights for design optimizations.
• Troubleshoot existing tooling to reduce reject rates and enhance manufacturability.
• Maintain project workflows and comprehensive design documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Approximately 10 years of tool or product design experience in the automotive industry, including molding, machining or assembly.
• Strong understanding of mold design processes, DFM principles and tool construction.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate across engineering, production, maintenance and quality teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD software – CREO (Elements/Pro) and SolidWorks.
• Experience with MS Office and Document Management Systems.
