Senior Embedded Engineer – Robotics & Sensor Systems

About the role

Quartermaster is seeking a Senior Embedded Engineer to lead the development of the SmartMast™ edge computing platform, a vessel‑mounted system that fuses video, radar, RF, AIS and GPS data for real‑time maritime domain awareness.

Key responsibilities

• Own and evolve the embedded Linux platform on NVIDIA Jetson hardware.
• Integrate and maintain sensor interfaces for cameras, radar, SDR, AIS, GPS/GNSS and thermal systems.
• Develop ROS2‑based middleware and edge AI inference pipelines under compute and bandwidth constraints.
• Design and improve edge‑to‑cloud data paths for low latency and resilience in maritime networks.
• Manage OTA update workflows, staged rollouts and rollback strategies for fleet‑deployed devices.
• Debug production issues from field telemetry and deliver rapid, durable fixes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of software development experience in robotics, embedded systems or electronics.
• Strong proficiency in Python, C++ and shell scripting; Rust a plus.
• Hands‑on experience with Linux (Ubuntu), ROS/ROS2 and NVIDIA Jetson platforms.
