Senior Electrical Instrumentation Maintenance Engineer

About the role

BASF is hiring a Senior Electrical Instrumentation Maintenance Engineer for its Petrochemicals team in Freeport, Texas. The role supports instrument and electrical engineering across the Freeport Chemical Manufacturing operating areas and gives technical guidance to the I/E/A maintenance team. It is a long-term, strategic position focused on maintenance, reliability, asset availability and safety within the Polyamide (CM) business unit.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for daily maintenance and give design and technical information for maintenance and capital improvements.
• Support Production, Project Engineering, Turnaround and other maintenance staff.
• Support Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFAs) and troubleshooting, and oversee the maintenance, testing and documentation of the Safety Instrumented System (SIS).
• Lead and take part in accident and incident investigations and RCFAs.
• Address action items from audits, Process Hazard Analyses, accident investigations, MOC and other maintenance-related processes.
• Create and edit procedures for repairs, mechanical integrity and equipment operation using relevant industry codes.
• Develop a Critical Equipment list and maintain a Critical Spares Inventory.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in a chemical, petrochemical or refinery operation.
• Experience providing technical guidance in instrumentation and electrical systems.
• Familiarity with SAP.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Required skills

• Proficient technical knowledge of instrumentation, electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Knowledge of applicable industry codes and maintenance best practices.
