Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

Heapy is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in the Columbus, OH metro area to work on education projects for K-12 and higher education. The engineer applies standard electrical design techniques to a small project or selected parts of a larger one, using independent judgment and taking ownership of detailed plans, specifications, calculations and cost estimates.

Key responsibilities

• Design electrical equipment, components and systems, including detailed plan designs, material quantities and cost estimates
• Prepare technical specifications for review and approval, and evaluate vendor bids and drawings against them
• Review and approve electrical design drawings for the assigned project segment
• Perform calculations and collaborate with more experienced colleagues on plan details and outlines
• Assist with design guides, guide specifications and design control procedures when directed by the Practice Technical Leader
• Prepare technical reports such as life cycle cost analysis and facility condition assessments
• Perform field tests and measurements, collect field data and prepare field reports
• Aid proposal teams and support Design Engineers I and II in their technical development

Required profile

• 4-year engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program and typically 10+ years of related experience in electrical engineering systems in the built environment
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification, working toward Professional Engineering (PE) registration, which should be attained within the first 2 years
• Experience with computer software packages and automated electrical design equipment
• Knowledge of the corporate vision, mission, core values and ISO systems view, and alignment with OKRI goals
