About the role

The Columbus Technical College Operations Department is seeking a full‑time Custodian to maintain clean and safe facilities. This non‑exempt position involves routine cleaning, maintenance tasks, and the use of various chemicals.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of bathrooms, classrooms, hallways and other facility areas.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as painting, replacing light bulbs, hanging curtains, and setting up furniture for events.
  • Clear storm drains and traps of debris and manage grounds care.
  • Use and store cleaning chemicals safely.

Required profile

  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Minimum 6 months custodial experience (preferred) or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lb and perform physical tasks such as stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.

Required skills

  • Knowledge of cleaning methods for carpet, resilient tile and hardwood floors.
  • Ability to use various cleaning chemicals safely.
