Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

Matrix Technologies is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its hybrid team in Overland Park, KS. The role involves designing low‑voltage electrical control systems for industrial automation projects and collaborating with multidisciplinary engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical control packages, including PLC I/O schematics, panel layouts, and bills of material.
• Create motor control circuits, MCC interfaces, VFD systems, three‑line diagrams, cable schedules, and conduit layouts.
• Apply NEC, NFPA, and UL standards to all designs and prepare scopes of work, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with clients, internal teams, and contractors throughout project execution, supporting installation, bid walks, startup, and I/O verification.
• Lead project portions and mentor junior engineers while upholding safety and engineering best practices.

Required profile

• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• 6+ years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in EPC projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET‑accredited program.
• FE or PE certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel 20‑25% locally and overnight.

Required skills

• PLC programming and I/O schematic development.
• AutoCAD schematic drawing.
• Experience with AC/DC motor drives, VFDs, MCCs, and industrial control networks.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, UL codes and standards.
• Familiarity with HMIs and I/O hardware.
