Electrical Engineer

About the role

Matrix Technologies is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its hybrid team in Overland Park, KS. The role involves designing low‑voltage control panels, MCCs and VFD panels for industrial automation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts and bills of material under senior engineer guidance.
• Design industrial control panels, MCC interfaces, motor control systems and power distribution equipment, applying NEC, NFPA, UL508A and other standards.
• Support equipment sizing, load calculations, cable schedules, conduit layouts and installation details.
• Coordinate with clients, fabricators, contractors and internal teams; assist with field installation, startup, commissioning and troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET‑accredited program.
• 1–2 years of experience in electrical design, control panel design, industrial automation or related field.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel 15–25% (including occasional overnight trips).
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required skills

• AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software.
• Knowledge of NEC, UL508A, MCCs, VFDs, motor controls and low‑voltage power distribution.
• Experience creating PLC hardware layouts, I/O drawings and load calculations.
• Familiarity with electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams and bills of material.
