Senior Electrical Engineer – Industrial Electrical Design

About the role

Matrix Technologies is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Industrial Electrical Design team in Peachtree City, GA. The role focuses on designing and delivering industrial electrical systems, control panels, motor control centers (MCCs) and variable frequency drive (VFD) solutions for diverse manufacturing, food & beverage, chemical and pharmaceutical clients.

Key responsibilities

• Develop electrical control packages, PLC I/O schematics, panel layouts and bills of material based on P&IDs and project requirements.
• Design motor control circuits, MCC interfaces, VFD systems and three‑line diagrams while ensuring compliance with NEC, NFPA and UL standards.
• Prepare project scopes, specifications, cost estimates and coordinate with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Support field installation, contractor bid walks, startup activities and I/O verification, providing technical guidance to junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET‑accredited program.
• 5+ years of experience designing industrial control panels, MCCs, VFD systems or related automation electrical systems.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel 20‑25% of the time, including occasional overnight trips.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required skills

• PLC control panel design and PLC I/O schematics.
• Motor control circuit design, MCC and VFD panel design.
• Knowledge of UL508A, NEC, NFPA and industrial electrical standards.
