Senior Director, Inventory Strategy and Product Management

About the role

The Senior Director, Inventory Strategy & Product Management will shape Macy’s end‑to‑end inventory vision across merchandising, supply chain, stores, digital, finance and technology. This leader drives profitable growth, improves inventory productivity and enhances the customer experience through modern analytics and scalable technology solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute inventory and planning strategies that support sales growth, margin optimization and inventory productivity.
• Lead core operating rhythms such as forecasting cycles, inventory reviews and leadership checkpoints.
• Improve key inventory metrics including turnover, weeks of supply, fill rate, sell‑through, markdown optimization and in‑stock performance.
• Advance planning and inventory capabilities by implementing and optimizing planning systems, forecasting models and analytics platforms.
• Build and mentor a team of product managers responsible for inventory‑related product portfolios.
• Ensure inventory platforms support omnichannel fulfillment models (BOPIS, ship‑from‑store, same‑day delivery, marketplace).
• Partner with Technology and Product teams on roadmap development, system enhancements and adoption.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in inventory strategy, supply chain or product management.
• Strong track record of driving profitable sales growth and improving inventory productivity.
• Ability to translate enterprise priorities into actionable plans across multiple functions.
• Excellent collaboration skills with senior leaders in merchandising, finance, technology and operations.

Required skills

• Experience with inventory planning and forecasting systems.
• Proficiency in analytics platforms and data‑driven decision making.
• Knowledge of omnichannel fulfillment technologies and modern inventory practices.
