Senior Director, Cancer Biology (U.S.)

About the role

The Senior Director, Head of Cancer Biology will lead Servier’s U.S. cancer biology program, reporting to the Head of U.S. Research and serving on the Boston site leadership team. The role oversees a portfolio of small‑molecule oncology discovery programs, driving target identification through to IND‑enabling studies.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to R&D cross‑functional strategy as a member of the Boston site leadership team.
• Provide cancer biology expertise to lead target identification, validation and drug discovery efforts.
• Serve as Project Leader on early drug discovery projects.
• Lead and mentor a team of PhD and non‑PhD scientists, overseeing scientific performance and career development.
• Collaborate with global colleagues to ensure a cohesive global oncology strategy.
• Evaluate external innovation opportunities and integrate promising assets.
• Maintain a work environment focused on scientific integrity, open communication and collaboration.

Required skills

• PhD in biology, molecular & cellular biology, cancer biology or related discipline.
• 12+ years of experience in cancer drug discovery in biotech or pharma.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring PhD‑level scientists.
• Expertise in small‑molecule drug discovery from concept through IND submission.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication (presentation & writing) skills.
