Senior Construction Manager – Transmission Projects

About the role

The Senior Construction Manager will lead capital projects for a utility, overseeing every phase from definition through commissioning and closeout. The role involves coordinating with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure safe, on‑time, and on‑budget delivery of transmission substations and lines.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full project lifecycle, from scope definition and cost estimating to final closeout.
• Develop detailed construction plans, outage schedules, and permit requirements.
• Create and evaluate bid packages, conduct pre‑bid meetings, and select vendors.
• Perform constructability reviews across all disciplines to mitigate costly changes.
• Monitor schedule, cost, and quality, conducting regular QA checks on‑site.
• Ensure compliance with utility procedures, regulatory standards, and safety/environmental policies.
• Oversee contractors during construction and commissioning of transmission substations and lines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
• 10+ years of experience in electric utility transmission & distribution, construction, or related industries.
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication abilities.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills.
