Senior Communications Coordinator

About the role

HDR is looking for a senior communications professional to lead strategic messaging for infrastructure projects. The Senior Communications Coordinator will create and execute multi‑channel communication plans that engage stakeholders, support public outreach, and reinforce HDR’s brand values. This role works closely with engineers, architects and other experts to translate technical information into clear, compelling content.

Key responsibilities

• Develop content and communication plans that drive engagement across websites, e‑newsletters, press releases, social media and other channels.
• Draft written deliverables and create project‑specific outreach tools, including databases, emails and graphic design assets.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure consistent messaging and visual identity.
• Assist with event planning, public meetings, hearings, open houses, focus groups and workshops.
• Manage scope, schedule and budget for communication activities supporting infrastructure projects.
• Serve as task lead, owning deliverables with minimal supervision.
• Maintain internal and external client relationships and manage communications databases and tools.

Required profile

• Proven experience in public relations or corporate communications, preferably within engineering or construction environments.
• Strong ability to translate technical concepts into clear, audience‑appropriate language.
• Excellent collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated project‑management capability, including budgeting and scheduling.
• Self‑starter who can lead tasks independently and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Adobe tools for creating visual content.
• Experience using SharePoint for document and information management.
• Familiarity with communication databases and production management tools.
