Senior Care Unit RN - PRN

About the role

Appling Healthcare is hiring a Senior Care Unit Registered Nurse working PRN in Baxley. Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse, the nurse assists in the daily care of patients by assessing their needs and helping provide the appropriate treatment plan.

Key responsibilities

• Manage patients in group settings using milieu management principles, plan and run health teaching groups, document progress and organize patient activities
• Maintain professional boundaries with patients and report boundary violations to the supervisor
• Keep documentation complete and accurate in line with facility standards and regulatory requirements
• Complete nursing assessments of new patients promptly, begin the treatment plan on admission and review physician orders for completeness and accuracy
• Follow policies on seclusion and restraint, and lead a crisis team, including the use of timeouts, locked seclusion or restraints when needed
• Administer psychotropic medications according to hospital policy and support patients with illegal and addictive drug use
• Take part in multi-disciplinary treatment teams, set measurable goals and revise them as the patient's condition changes
• Use the treatment plan to report on patients at shift change and advise the incoming shift

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
• Current Georgia registered nurse license
• New hires must obtain CPR, ACLS and CPI certification within 90 days of hire
