Emergency Room Technician - Nights (7p-7a)

About the role

Appling Healthcare is hiring a full-time Emergency Room Technician for its emergency department in Baxley, working nights from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The position works under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager and assists in the examination and treatment of patients.

Key responsibilities

• Take vital signs and patient information, record them and interventions on patient records according to department guidelines.
• Prepare supplies and hand instruments to providers during physical examinations, and clean and sterilize medical instruments.
• Help register urgent or emergent patients quickly with the admissions department and notify nurses of STAT orders immediately.
• Report changes in patient condition to the supervisor right away and explain procedures to patients before care is given.
• Measure and record height and weight accurately, collect or help collect specimens and deliver them to the lab.
• Provide basic wound care and activities of daily living care such as bathing and grooming, and assist with lifting, positioning and transporting patients.
• Change bed linens, make beds, keep patients dry and turn bedfast patients every two hours.
• Answer phones and call lights, route messages, serve meals and feed patients who cannot feed themselves.
• Maintain accurate patient records, enter supply charges each shift, prepare discharge paperwork and documents for patient transfer, and order supplies to maintain PAR levels.
• Keep the work area clean, photocopy records and perform other job-related duties as requested.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required; previous clinical experience preferred but not required.
• Current CPR certification, which must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, spoken and written; additional languages preferred.
