Emergency Dept. LPN/RN - PRN Nights (7p-7a)

About the role

Appling Healthcare is hiring Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses (RN/LPN) for its emergency department in Baxley, working nights from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The nurse works under the direction of the Emergency Room Nurse Manager, assessing patient needs and implementing and monitoring medical plans and treatments. The position is listed as part-time.

Key responsibilities

• Create and review care plans, updating them as medical orders change in line with policies and procedures
• Complete triage promptly, assess patients at triage and whenever their condition changes, following unit and age-appropriate guidelines
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and notify the nurse manager of crises or significant changes
• Process provider orders promptly, ensuring STAT orders are done first, and give medications including IV piggyback and IV push per hospital policy
• Collect lab specimens, notify the physician of results, and complete hourly patient rounds and chart checks
• Document medications, patient charges and patient care every shift, and complete unit safety checks
• Assist with wound care, activities of daily living and meals, and instruct patients and families on discharge
• Act as preceptor for nursing students and orient new hires, and help with housekeeping duties

Required profile

• Current RN or LPN license in the State of Georgia
• Previous ER nurse experience preferred but not required
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English; additional languages preferred

Required skills

• BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire)
• CPI certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire)
• ACLS certification (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
