Senior Benefits Manager - Leave, Disability & Workers' Compensation

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is hiring a Senior Benefits Manager in Milwaukee. The role oversees workers' compensation, short-term and long-term disability, and leave and absence programs, and leads a small team. It requires 4 days in the office and 1 day remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the workers' compensation program, including vendor partnerships, claims oversight, cost containment and return-to-work programs.
• Oversee short-term and long-term disability and absence programs, ensuring compliant administration of statutory and company-sponsored policies.
• Act as primary owner of Absence in the HRSS ecosystem (e.g. Workday Absence/Workforce), managing policy and operational requirements.
• Lead leave and absence programs, including FMLA, ADA, state and local paid leave and company leaves, and draft and maintain related policies and communications.
• Partner with HR, Legal, Payroll, Benefits and IT on regulatory changes and business initiatives, and with third-party administrators on compliance.
• Analyze utilization trends and program costs to support design and optimization, and lead return-to-work and accommodation strategies.
• Lead, coach and mentor a team covering workers' compensation, short-term and long-term disability and related absence programs.
• Ensure regulatory compliance across federal, state and local requirements, including audits, reporting and documentation, and act as escalation point for complex, high-risk cases.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in leave, disability and workers' compensation.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Strong knowledge of state and federal benefit regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to build relationships with internal teams and external partners.
• Detail-oriented, able to work under pressure, multi-task and work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
