Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

Bevi is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to own and evolve its backend platform that powers a fleet of smart water machines. You will work in a fast‑growing hardware startup, delivering reliable, scalable services while mentoring junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services using Java and Kotlin, ensuring high reliability and scalability.
• Manage production deployments, monitor service health, and troubleshoot performance issues.
• Develop well‑documented APIs (REST and GraphQL) for web and machine interfaces.
• Process telemetry data from Bevi machines and provide insights to R&D, support, and fleet management.
• Lead architectural discussions, guide technical direction, and champion test‑driven development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of backend development experience with Java/Kotlin.
• Proven experience in microservice architectures and cloud deployments.

Required skills

• Java and Kotlin programming.
• PostgreSQL (and optionally InfluxDB or TimescaleDB).
• API design, with strong preference for GraphQL.
• Experience with modern front‑end frameworks such as TypeScript and React (a plus).
• Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platform operations.
