Senior Associate, Sponsor and Specialty Finance

About the role

Santander is seeking a Senior Associate to manage a portfolio of credit account relationships within its Sponsor and Specialty Finance division. The role focuses on credit risk management, underwriting, and expanding loan relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and grow an assigned portfolio of high‑level banking credit accounts, generating net interest income and fee revenue.
• Underwrite loan requests, lead deal‑screen and loan‑approval discussions, and close approved credit transactions, including preparation of legal documentation.
• Conduct client meetings to address credit questions, sell appropriate products, and identify cross‑sell opportunities.
• Ensure timely completion of renewals, annual reviews, and interim analyses while complying with risk and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• 9+ years of experience in credit structuring, underwriting, and cross‑selling.
• Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in financial statement modeling.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work independently.
• Thorough understanding of regulations governing financial products and services.
