Senior API Cloud Platform Engineer (Remote)

About the role

VetsEZ is seeking a Senior API & Cloud Platform Engineer to support a large federal government healthcare modernization project. This 100% remote position will design, develop, and maintain the Enterprise Data Access Service and cloud‑based integration platform for the VA’s TAG initiative.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs for EDAS and TAG data products.
• Define API contracts using OpenAPI (Swagger) and implement secure, versioned APIs.
• Build cloud‑hosted microservices and API hosting solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Implement monitoring, logging, telemetry, and performance optimization with Azure Monitor.
• Develop secure integrations with VA Profile, VBMS, VES, and other enterprise systems using modern authentication.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, analysts, and stakeholders on design, documentation, code reviews, and Agile delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience designing enterprise applications.
• 5+ years developing RESTful APIs, enterprise integration services, and Azure cloud‑native applications.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Required skills

• REST APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, JSON, OAuth 2.0, Mutual TLS (mTLS).
• C#, Java, or Python programming.
• Git, Azure DevOps, Azure Monitor.
• Microsoft Azure services: App Services, Functions, API Management, Service Bus, Event Grid.
