Senior Algorithms and Simulation Software Engineer

About the role

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior Algorithms and Simulation Software Engineer to design and implement state estimation and control algorithms for its SPARC fusion project. You will develop mission‑critical software, integrate it with hardware‑in‑the‑loop and software‑only testbeds, and contribute to the broader software ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Develop real‑time state estimation and control algorithms for fusion systems.
• Build software infrastructure for Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HITL) and software‑only testbeds.
• Create simulation models and frameworks for both real‑time and high‑fidelity offline simulations.
• Implement offline data‑analysis tools.
• Define and execute integrated test cases and test plans to validate SPARC control software.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in real‑time state estimation and control algorithm development.
• Professional experience delivering production‑quality software for mission‑critical systems.
• Familiarity with modern software development lifecycle practices (CI/CD, version control, unit and integration testing).
