Senior AI / ML Engineer (LLMs)

About the role

EvolutionIQ builds technology that helps insurance claims teams handle claims more accurately, fairly and efficiently. It is growing rapidly and is hiring a Senior AI / ML Engineer to lead its medical synthesis product. The engineer takes ownership of projects end-to-end, makes architectural and technical decisions and combines large language models (LLMs), statistical machine learning and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) with embeddings-based models.

Key responsibilities

• Lead AI/ML projects from ideation and requirements through architecture, development, deployment and optimization
• Make high-level architectural and technical decisions balancing scalability, performance, reliability, maintainability and business impact
• Design, build and deploy AI-powered, LLM-driven features, including extracting key information from complex medical documents and human-in-the-loop summarization workflows
• Build hybrid machine learning solutions using statistical models, LLMs and RAG with embeddings and vector search
• Write clean, scalable code and optimize existing AI/ML systems in production
• Work with data labelers and subject matter experts to evaluate outputs and improve model performance
• Partner with Product, Engineering and other teams on requirements, priorities and rapid iteration
• Guide other engineers, set best practices and turn research into production-grade solutions

Required profile

• 5-8+ years of experience writing performant Python code
• At least 1 year building and deploying LLM-powered products
• Proven experience leading technical projects from concept to production
• Ability to make architectural tradeoffs and evaluate LLM outputs against real-world outcomes
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with Product, Engineering, SMEs and stakeholders
