Senior AI Application Engineer – Remote

About the role

VetsEZ is looking for a Senior AI Application Engineer to design and deliver enterprise AI solutions for the Department of Veterans Affairs, focusing on secure, governed AI‑assisted search and summarization using Retrieval‑Augmented Generation, Large Language Models and Amazon Bedrock.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement AI‑powered applications, including prompt orchestration, document retrieval and response generation.
• Build reusable AI services, RESTful APIs and cloud‑native components that integrate with existing healthcare systems while meeting federal security, privacy and AI governance standards.
• Implement and optimize Retrieval‑Augmented Generation, vector search, semantic search and responsible AI features such as human‑in‑the‑loop validation and drift monitoring.
• Collaborate with solution architects, product owners, cybersecurity teams and clinicians throughout the Agile development lifecycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of enterprise software development, with 5+ years in cloud‑native AWS environments.
• Proven experience delivering AI/ML or Generative AI solutions in regulated federal or healthcare settings.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Public Trust clearance.
